Is Coaching for Me?

Coaching is for you if you are ready to make positive changes in your life and to set and achieve goals. These goals could be related to life-long ambitions or a new sense of direction.  They could simply be to help you get out of a rut.  No goal is too big or too small. Making changes to your life can be scary, it's my job to guide you through it.  When you are ready.

We will work together and I will support you with motivation, encouragement, confidence, self-esteem and timeframes.  We can focus on improving relationships, your career or day to day life.  It really just depends on what area you wish to focus on. Take a look at the things we can cover here.

I don't believe in the word 'can't'.  I believe anything is possible.

*IMPORTANT PLEASE READ*
My priority as your coach is your mental health, wellbeing and safety.  Life coaching is not psychotherapy and cannot substitute for counselling.

If you are seeking support for your mental health and would like to work with a life coach who "claims" they can help with anxiety / depression / mental health I would strongly advise you to check the coach has a mental health qualification.  This ensures you have a coach who is trained and experienced in mental health conditions, is ethical, responsible, safe and understands the difference between therapy and coaching. I have the relevant mental health qualifications, training and experience, which you can view here.

Life coaching is not recommended for coping with severe mental illness, acute distress, or unresolved past issues. It is also not effective for individuals who are resistant to making changes in their lives, or who are seeking support as the primary intervention. It is not a friendship; it is a working relationship.

Issues for which life coaching is not right (is not recommended or suitable) include:

  • Clinical depression, including Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder

  • Chronic or acute anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Those with unresolved problems from the past, such as unresolved grief or anger due to past trauma

  • Serious mental illness, such as Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder

  • Personality Disorders which include eccentric behaviours (e.g.Paranoid, Schizoid)

  • Personality Disorders which involve dramatic or erratic behaviours (AntisocialBorderline, Histrionic, Narcissistic)

  • Desire for emotional support without intention of making changes

  • Need for athletic coaching/training

  • Those who view their life as “good enough” and feel no need for change

  • Those who want to be directly told “what to do"
